About
Welcome to Smitty's Restaurant & Lounge - Calgary Macleod Trail, a hidden gem nestled on Macleod Trail in Calgary. This establishment promises more than just ordinary dining; it offers a delightful experience that blends quality food, warm service, and a home-like atmosphere.
As I stepped into Smitty's, I was immediately greeted with a friendly smile and a choice of seating, setting the tone for what was to unfold. The aromas wafting from the kitchen hinted at the freshness and quality of the dishes awaiting us. A standout moment was when our food arrived swiftly and in generous portions, reminiscent of lovingly prepared meals from Grandma's kitchen. It's rare to find a spot where the meals don't feel pre-prepared or reheated, and Smitty's excels in delivering freshly made dishes that burst with flavor.
Aside from the fantastic food, the service at Smitty's deserves special mention. The staff, particularly Glenn and Wanda, are not just employees; they're the heartbeat of the restaurant. They remember regulars' names and preferences, ensuring that every visit feels personal and welcoming. The attention to detail—such as warm milk for coffee to avoid cooling it down, and clean single-use containers for hot sauce—reveals a commitment to customer satisfaction.
The ambiance is another highlight: cozy, relaxing, and adorned with soft music. The presence of a beautiful aquarium adds a unique charm, turning meals into visual experiences, especially for families. Many customers, including Ralph Birchard and Geraldine Villatotes, rave about the cozy feel, affirming its role as a favorite breakfast spot. Imagine savoring fluffy pancakes and crispy bacon while the kids watch colorful fish swim by!
With a dedication to quality, generous portions, and an inviting atmosphere, Smitty's Restaurant & Lounge on Macleod Trail is not just a meal stop; it’s a culinary retreat. Whether you're seeking a hearty breakfast or a leisurely dinner, this place consistently impresses. It has certainly captured my heart, and I am eager to return for another wonderful meal!
“ We had not been to a Smitty's in years and entered with medium expectations of a budget franchise. However Smitty's on Macleod was so much more than expected. We were greeted and seated soon as we entered and were offered our choice of seating. Our order was taken and food arrived quickly. Large portions that tasted like they were prepared in Grandma's kitchen. Not re heated, pre prepared but fresh tasting. Our waitress even brought warm milk for coffee explaining she didn't want to cool the coffee with cold milk. The hot sauce was served in a small single use container, not the dirty original hot sauce container so often served at most restaurants. The service was spot on and the servers were very professional. My thanks to the team at Smitty's on Macleod. ”
“ Best smitty's in town! Great food and service! Will definetly be back! ”
“ We enjoy going here because the food is always good, plenty of it, and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is relaxing with great music. We never feel rushed. Server Glenn is fantastic - always friendly, very attentive and pleasant. The order is always correct and he knows the product very well. He very quickly got to know and remembered our preferences. We always feel welcome and that our business is appreciated. ”
“ My mother and I go here every week. Wanda isn't just the wonderful lady that brings us or food she has become our friend. In fact all the service staff are FANTASTIC, we always feel welcomed. The food is always good, and I love watching the fish in their huge aquarium. It's a great place for kids because they have this amazing live aquarium they can watch. A huge thanks goes to the staff who always cook my steak the way I want (Chicago Well Done) ”
“ Smitty’s is my go to spot for a delicious and satisfying breakfast! The food is always fresh, the portions are big, and the service is warm and welcoming. Whether you’re craving classic pancakes, crispy bacon, or a hearty omelet, they never disappoint. The cozy atmosphere makes it a great place to start the day. Highly recommend! ”
“ My 83 year old mother loves to have breakfast for dinner here! Staff outstanding service. Attention is given to quick service when you get seated and throughout meal many checkins for coffee fillups or just seeing if anything is needed. The breakfast one egg meal is huge when you add half a plate of shredded hash browns 2 pancakes and couple slices of bacon for under 15. Other food items we've had are Philly cheese is on fresh bun with fries they were good. Lemon Pepper wings were good. Breakfasts I would say are best choice here. Parking is sufficient. Only thing is there are no electric disability door openers on their double doors which is a little tricky to open when you have a physical disability. Bathroom is super tidy compared to many restaurant bathrooms. Again stars are the staff. And breakfast is history ”
“ My only regret was not finding this place sooner! I was in town on business and had been skipping breakfast all week as there didn't appear to be anywhere to get a decent breakfast. I was wrong!!! Found Smitty's on my last morning in town and I couldn't have been happier. Great food, great atmosphere and, I believe her name was Wanda, gave excellent service. Next time I am in town I will be eating here for more than just breakfast. ”
“ The service was really good , we were taken care of and we had a great time dining here . ”
